Ruth B. Dixon

February 8th, 1934-May 7th, 2021

Ruth B. Dixon was the daughter of the late Ernesto Bennett and Louise Turner, born on February 8th, 1934 in Parque La Febre, Panama, Republica de Panama.

Ruth lived life to the fullest achieving many successes; emigrating to the United States in September of 1968, getting her driver’s license after she bought her first car, becoming a United States Citizen in 1972, buying her first home, and moving to Florida after she retired.

Ruth loved God and family and reading. She was an avid reader and encouraged her children and grandchildren to read, she was a stickler about education and encourage/demanded her children and grandchildren to focus on theirs.  She worked for 26 years at Polaroid, in addition to her employment there she also work in the Health Care field at Goddard House in Brookline Ma. Ruth instilled in her family the value of hard work, determination, and the value of family above all else. She was friendly, welcomed all, flirtatious, encouraging, a listener and teacher. It was always her nature to try new things, she was generous to a fault and always contributed to many social causes, she was quick witted, at times she was the judge, jury and when needed the disciplinarian. Ruth loved to travel and was known for her exquisite fashion sense and willingness to critique others regarding theirs or lack thereof.

Ruth lived a truly Blessed Life the 87 years she spent living these chapters were well rounded, focused and filled with laughter and LOVE!

Ruth was one of seven children: Ralph Bennett (deceased), Melva Cassells (deceased), Monica Colebourne, David Bennett (deceased), Oliver Yearwood (deceased) and Iris Davis (Arcelio Sr.)

Ruth was the beloved mother of three children: Carmen Bennett, Alexander Dixon (Tammy) and Yvette Dixon. She was the nurturing, grandmother and outright spoiler of her grandchildren, Elizabeth Tyree, Andrew Gordon, Tsyrus Gordon and Samiya Dixon.

She is survived by a host niece, nephews, cousin’s family and friends.
