LIFE REFLECTIONS
OF
JIMMY LARRY WILBURN, SR.
“For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am wreak, then am I strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Jimmy Larry Wilburn, Sr. was born July 5, 1946 to Wyart Wilburn and Nellie Mae Wilburn in Worth County, Georgia. He departed this earthly life on April 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Wyart and Nellie Mae Wilburn, his sister Kizzie Mae Blackmon, his brother Joe Willie Wilburn and his brother JL Wilburn.
Jimmy L. lived in Florida: Safety Harbor, Clearwater, Saint Petersburg and Poinciana. He went to Pinellas High School where he played football and also learned many life-skills: masonry, auto mechanics, etc. He knew his way around mechanical things: be it, electrical apparatuses or car repairs. He was a self-taught artist and guitar player. Moreover, he loved playing his guitar so much that he put together a small group and played for a while at many social events.
He was willing and ready to help others with repairs. When he set his mind to do something he wouldn’t stop until it was finished. He loved unconditionally his lifelong companion, sons, grandchildren and other loved ones. He will certainly be missed by those who knew him well.
Memories of him will forever be treasured by his loving and lifelong companion: Mammie Albert; 5 sons: Jimmy Larry Wilburn, Jr., Timothy Wilburn (Geneva), Larry Albert (Yvonne), Jeffery Albert, Andrew Albert; 2 daughters: Elizabeth Samuels (Michael) and Monica Albert; 16 grandchildren: Monica, Andrew, Joslin, Kyshore, Devin, and others; 2 dedicated brothers: Eddie Wilburn and Wyart Wilburn, Jr.; 1 sister: Gladys Pitts; 3 aunts: Maxine, Mary, Nell and Rose; 3 sister-in-laws: Ovedia Wilburn, Hattie Atkins, Betty-Lue Kirk; 1 brother-in-law: Henry Lakes and a host of other family members and friends.
Special thanks to Sister-in-law Ovedia Wilburn for her kindness and thoughtful assistance; as well as everyone whose prayers and words have been of great comfort and strength.
