Etim Silas Udoh, 67, died 26th December 2019 after a prolonged illness. His funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11th at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL followed by internment on Monday, January 13th at West Lawn Cemetery in Dania Beach, Florida.
Mr. Udoh was born on 6th September,1952 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria the second child of Silas Udoh Mbat and Jane Akpan Ekpo. His father was an oil trader and mother a market lady. Etim married his wife Dominica Okon Akpan with whom he had 4 children.
He came to the United States in 1980 to pursue his studies in Urban Planning at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and went on to also earn a Master’s in the field at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia.
Mr. Udoh moved, with his family, to Clearwater, FL for work with the city in their Urban Planning Division. He was very active in the church, singing in the choir and participating in local civic events. Mr. Udoh retired as a Senior Planner from Palm Beach County government after serving 13 years in the Planning and Zoning Division. An avid boxing fan, he enjoyed watching title bouts and driving Nissan cars.
His family paid this tribute to him, “Etim was a good-hearted man who loved God, family, education, and politics. He had a sweet playful smile and laugh that always made you feel happy no matter what was going on. His mantra was as long as there is life there is hope. As we lay him to rest our hope is that we will honor his values.”
He is survived by his wife Dominica and three children Ubong, Owoidoho, and Patience with his eldest daughter Imaobong deceased. His brother Christopher Matthew and 6 grandchildren.
