Curtis McCoy, II transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at his home in Safety Harbor, Florida, where he was surrounded by his loving wife and family members.

Curtis McCoy, II was born May 15, 1944 in Clearwater, Florida, a son of the late Curtis McCoy, Sr. and Mae Pearl McCoy (Demps).

He was a graduate of Pinellas High School in Clearwater, Florida, and after receiving his formal education he began his college career at Tuskegee Institute, where he received a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, and another Master's Degree in History. During his tenure at Tuskegee Institute, Curtis marched in Selma, Alabama with the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights Era fighting for the rights of African Americans. He was also enrolled as a member of the ROTC program with the Tuskegee Institute. Having obtained the elite status as Captain, upon graduating from the Tuskegee Institute, he enrolled in the United States Army on August 15th, 1967, as Captain. While being enlisted in the Army, he enrolled in Flight School and became a helicopter pilot. He served during the Vietnam War era and received the following special accommodations of: National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVNCM) for a three year stint. While serving he was in charge of over 200 men. He completed his tenure in 1970 as a U.S. Army Veteran being honorably discharge. Afterwards, Curtis received gainful employment with the City of Largo (Florida) working in several capacities, with the most notable being that he was the City of Largo's first black police officer where he obtained the rank of Marksman. He later ventured into a new facet of his life where he founded a security business having three offices in Clearwater FL, Orlando FL, and Vero Beach FL,. He successfully ran his business in the private and commercial sectors for many years, and he later established other companies in the field of blocks and concrete; and also stucco. Curtis served on many boards and venues such as: the Code Enforcement Board (over 20 yrs.), the Neighborhood Family Center (a founder), and was also one of the founding members of the Clearwater Jazz Festival. Curtis's last place of employment was with GSA Contracting, where he worked until his demise.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Curtis McCoy, Sr and Mae Pearl McCoy. Two Sisters, Mary Ann McCoy, Sheila McCoy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Princetta Dampier McCoy; three sons, Shawn McCoy (Nicole), William McCoy (Angela), Curtis McCoy, III (Danielle); two daughters, Daphne Smith, Renette McCoy; three brothers, Nathaniel Demps, Curtis McCoy (Paula), Timothy McCoy (Vitra); five sisters, Jackie McClary (Jesse), Ozzie Lawrence, Madeline McCoy, Brenda Brinkley, and Cassandra Allen; Ten grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.
