Charles Holland Obituary

“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me that day: and not to me only, but also to all who loved his appearing. -II Timothy 4:8”

Charles "Charlie Chicken" Holland was a native of Safety Harbor, Florida, son of the late JoAnne Holland.

Charles LOVED his community and helping others, he never met a stranger! He could always be found riding around the neighborhood stopping in to check on the kids and elders of the community, never hesitating to ask if you need help or just to make sure you were doing alright.

Charles not only loved his community, but he was also a servant of his community spending over 20 years volunteering with the youth in Young Life. He volunteered at the YMCA for many years and was eventually hired in 2013, working with them for 6 years.  He also volunteered at GRAYDL, starting in 2010 and became an official employee in 2016 until his passing.

He was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Largo, FL where his also gave his time and was a faithful servant as head usher, drove the church van and sung in the choir. Always available to do anything the church needed of him.

In addition to his mother, he was also predeceased by his aunts Johnnie Mae Baldwin, Carolyn Holland and Alberta Neal, his uncles Thomas Holland, and James Holland Sr.

He is survived by his uncles Weymon Holland and Joseph Holland Sr, aunt Louise Smalls, goddaughter Brittney McClendon, godmothers Eartha Williams and Claudia Perry and a host of cousins, friends and people of the community they were as close as family.

In lieu of flowers, Charles would love for you to continue his passion for community by volunteering your time or donate to the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA, GRADYL and Young Life of Largo.
