Rafael Arroyo Colon was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico in 1932, to Felix and Anastacia. He was one of 5 siblings. Rafael, or to his closest friends and loved ones Fello or Fellini. He loved to cook, worked extremely hard to achieve the life and legacy he led. Most importantly, Fello spent his last days enjoying every minute he had. To know him was to love him.

Rafael joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and served until 1955. He rejoined the service by enlisting to the U.S. Coast Guard in 1956, where he served for 22 years before retiring in 1976. During his service, he was stationed in Germany, Boston, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. He was proud of being a Puerto Rican and serving the United States and the island territory that he loved. &

In 1954 he married Petra Del Carmen and together they had 6 children. Annette, Rafael (Rafi), Miguel, Luis, Nelly, and Sandra. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his family going to the beach, camping, and car rides. Rafael loved hosting family gatherings with all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren around him. During his retirement, he lived on a ranch and loved having the grandkids come visit. They would ride horses, play with the goats, and partake in the ranch life. He was the true epitome of everything a grandpa should be.

Rafael was called home and said his goodbyes to his loved ones on January 14, 2022. Rafael Arroyo Colon was a beloved father and grandfather. He was well respected in the community. He had the ability to make a room brighten up with his loving personality and contagious humor. A fun loving Papito, his legacy will live on, and he will be kept alive in the hearts of all he touched.
