Melvin attended Pinellas High School in Clearwater, Florida and was employed as a mason tender for 45 years. He attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Largo, Florida and Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church of Clearwater, Florida. He enjoyed working with his brother Larry Dennis, who he was very close to.

Melvin Edison Dennis departed this earthly life on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Clearwater, Florida.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; a son Paul Richardson; parents; Easley Green and Emma Dennis, three brothers; Larry Dennis, Sr., (Patricia) of Largo, FL; Tony Davisand Marty Davis both of Safety Harbor, FL; two sisters; Denise Adams (Eddie Jr) and Aneesh Adul Rahim, aunts; Pearl Marchman and Mary Stevens both of Clearwater, FL; significant other Deanna Alston, goddaughter, Wa'dasia Hilton and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends.
